Art15 presents large-scale installations, immersive performances, topical talks and specialist and public tours.
Art14 featured projects across the site by artists such as Yinka Shonibare MBE, Ai WeiWei, Romauld Hazoumé, as well as a special commission by Lothar Götz. Site-specific interventions and durational pieces from performance artists including Liliane Lijn, Yingmei Duan, Bruce Mclean and Doug Fishbone formed part of the Performance programme in partnership with the Zabludowicz Collection.
The talks programme featured discussions on subjects pertinent to the modern and contemporary art world including the rise of private museums in Asia and across the world, how art can shape cities economically, culturally and socially, plus a special keynote talk with Julian Schnabel in conversation with Norman Rosenthal. 20-minute bites titled ’10 Things You Didn’t Know About…’ explored specific countries and mediums. Speakers who offered their expertise included Iwona Blazwick (Whitechapel Gallery), Brett Rogers (The Photographers’ Gallery), Hans-Ulrich Obrist (Sperpentine Gallery) and Dr Oei Hong Dijen.
Sotheby’s Insitute of Art ran specialist and public tours at the fair. Sotheby’s Institute alumni, now experts in their field, offered detailed insights into key areas of collecting, while Sotheby’s Institute post-graduate students presented fair highlights tours, giving an overview of the fair.
