The exhibition will explore themes of storytelling and folk tales in Russian art from the late 19th and early 20th century. For many artists and writers at this turbulent time in Russian history, traditional tales and legends offered a firm grounding from which to view themselves and the world around them.
Art Russe’s exhibition not only acts as a means by which to bring Russian and Soviet culture to a wider audience, but also by working with children’s charities Children & The Arts and The Naked Heart Foundation to use visual storytelling to engage and support children from hard to reach areas here in the UK and in Russia.
