Bas Meeuws is a young photographer who is reviving the traditional Dutch genre of the floral still.
Meeuws composes his pictures like the old masters once did: flower upon flower in all their glory. The result is layered work that transcends time.
Meeuws is intrigued by the performance of lives in the seventeenth century. “I try to feel what viewers felt in those days. I feel the awe that they must have felt when watching all those expensive and exotic flowers together.”
