It is part of the nature of the discipline that most architects also try their hand at furniture and interior design, more or less coincidentally, in passing, or earnestly, but mostly periodically and peripherally. Adolf Krischanitz’s furniture oeuvre, in contrast, proves in retrospect to be almost constitutive of his work as a whole. Not only as a quantitatively and qualitatively impressive constant in his work, but also as a compacted visualization—in exemplary objects—of the development of his architectural thinking and actions over a period of more than fifty years. An inventory is therefore long since overdue.
