MANU vb TINTORÉ : Frotis

The ten years he worked as an agronomist in Africa, Latin America and Amazonia, inform the work of Manu vb Tintoré (Brussels, 1964) with a great symbolic power that is the foundation of an existentialist reflection on our environment and our relationship with it. His paintings play with the dynamic tension between the slick paper surface and the abraded areas that host the pigment, suggesting paths, cities, fields and mountains isolated in a world devoid of human presence, a faithful reflection of the artist’s subjective territory.
