An Australian counter-art movement in reaction against abstract expressionism. The antipodeans asserted the justification of figurative art, and as such they may be the prototype for the British stuckist art movement.
The artists were Charles Blackman, Arthur Boyd, David Boyd, John Brack, Robert Dickerson, John Perceval and Clifton Pugh, most of whom were Melbourn-based artist.
