Formed in Buenos Aires in 1946, Arte Madí was an artistic group preoccupied with the inherent possibilities in pure geometric abstraction. Some people consider Arte Madí the only Argentinian art movement to have had a significant impact internationally. Madí was founded by Gyula Kosice and Carmelo Arden Quin in protest to the government control of the arts under Juan Perón.
