Brushes for fine art painting

There are many different types of brushes, and there are some emerging standards of how to categorise them and for artists to make sense of them.
B- Brights indicate that they are flat, square-edged and long sable
F- Flats have square edges, long bristle
L- Longs are flat, square-edged, and have long sable
R- Rounds are rounded meaning that in the middle there is pointed bristle.

Then there are also so-called ‘Filberts’ which are flat, oval edged, and long fibered.
