Neoexpressionist

A somewhat imprecise word used to group all schools of abstract art whose forms are characterised by emotional, impulsive or accidental forces. This is partially in opposition to geometric abstraction, which is meticulously planned. Within the umbrella term neoexpressionism you would find abstract expressionism, for instance.

Neoexpressionism stems from ideas formulated by Kandinski, and geometric abstraction from Mondrian.
