As an art movement, process art is perhaps much more a mindset or a philosophy than a clear style of art. It slowly emerged in the 1950s and have lingered on ever since. What process art focuses on is actually quite beautiful.
Simply, and without all its philosphical imports, it is the act of creating art. Therefore creation is the art more so than the end result. Put in another way, the journey is the reward – not the destination per se.
Process artist have achieved great result and creative liberation by paying attention to chance, accident, and free association of thought. They have used unusual materials and let gravity, temperature and nature help transform the object of art.
