Trucage or L’art du trucage

Another word for art fakery or art fraud. Trucage is a French word for a forger’s work of art, which in turn is called truqueur. See also falsification.

The business of passing off imitations as real art is extremely lucrative, which of couse is the main motivation along with frustrated draughtsmen deriving some pleasure from knowing it has fooled an altogether pretentious and stupid world of art.

Just like fraud can be mentioned in many contexts so can the word trucage. For instance, it is also used in the context of optical illusions, ballot rigging, and anything else which is not what it is cracked up to be. L’art du trucage is the more precisely saying art fraud.
