the relative resistance of a liquid to flow. In art the term is often used in connection with paint. Thick acrylic or oil paint straight from the tube is said to have high viscosity. Paint which is runny in consistency has a low viscosity and is also termed ‘highly mobile’. Viscosity is thus the opposite to mobility.
